Dans le cadre du projet "Archives Series", ce nouveau coffret 4 vinyles Archives, Vol. 3: The Asylum Years (1972-1975) jette un nouvel éclairage sur cette période du début des années 70, souvent considérée comme la meilleure de de Joni Mitchell. Débutant par une version de travail de "Cold Blue Steel And Sweet Fire", testée lors d'une visite à une séance d'enregistrement de Graham Nash et David Crosby, cette sélection d'archives permet de découvrir les premières maquettes et versions alternatives de titres présents dans les albums "For The Roses" (1972), "Court And Spark" (1974) et "The Hissing Of Summer Lawns" (1975), ainsi que des enregistrements live d'époque, dont l'intégralité du retour triomphal de Joni Mitchell au Carnegie Hall en 1972 et un concert avec le backing Band Tom Scott & the L.A. Express. Sans oublier des titres gravés au cours de sessions avec James Taylor, Graham Nash et Neil Young... Inclus aussi une maquette inédite de son célèbre titre "Help Me". Un livret comprenant des photos et un entretien entre Joni Mitchell et Cameron Crowe figure dans cette édition.
